Amin Design & Direction — Studio
This is not a collaboration, it’s a partnership between two veteran designers; Amin; specializing in leather & denim for 12 years, and Paul Kaufman; a legendary shoemaker who introduced the iconic brand, Dr. Martens, to the United States in 1980.
Design Language, opening August 7th 2025, dives into the duos’ untraditional journeys as designers. Illustrating how the common thread of design transcends age, race, religion, geography, and language. We explore their unique perspectives through the conventions Amin and Paul use to speak about ‘land’. Paul, naming his footwear silhouettes after street classifications (Freeway, Crosswalk, Junction, Alley, Intersection), while Amin names the colourways after nature (Clay, Coal, Sky, Sage, Sand, Slate).

Their exhibit will provide guests with unique insight behind the process of 3 silhouettes Amin and Paul designed together. The 3 designs pay homage to western workwear and counter-culture:
Every piece is bespoke! Guests are invited to step into the role of a designer and craft their own one-of-one garments by selecting their own silhouettes, colorways, materials, embroidery and metal finishes.
